{"id":558,"date":"2010-05-08T23:05:38","date_gmt":"2010-05-09T03:05:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/?p=558"},"modified":"2017-09-13T13:32:06","modified_gmt":"2017-09-13T17:32:06","slug":"the-aftermath","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/the-aftermath\/","title":{"rendered":"The Aftermath"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I first want to apologize for not keeping the blog updated during this whole process. \u00a0Someone hacked the website and deleted everything on the website. \u00a0We got it back, but some newer blog entries were deleted. \u00a0The last blog entry had pictures of what I had to go through everyday and I now do not have those pictures, so I am real pissed about that. \u00a0As soon as the website got hacked I also lost my laptop. \u00a0I did not get a new computer until recently, so I NOW can update the blog.<\/p>\n<p>I AM DONE!!!!!! \u00a0As of May 3, 2010, I am finished with my treatment of radiation and chemotherapy. \u00a0I started March 16 and it went on for 7 weeks. \u00a0Since I don&#8217;t have any pictures of me on the table, I will describe it. \u00a0I had to drive into the city every day Monday thru Friday. \u00a0We left Ridgewood around 7 o&#8217;clock in the morning to get to the hospital by 8:15 AM. \u00a0 I would go into this room that was decorated with fake beach views to make it feel like you were in the life of luxury or something. \u00a0I would lay on this table and a mask would be placed around my head and bolted to the table. \u00a0This mask would make sure I would remain in the same position every day. \u00a0The actual radiation process lasted about 10 to 15 minutes. \u00a0This huge thing would start to encircle me where the radiation beams will hit me. \u00a0Now, I never felt a beam during the process.<\/p>\n<p>Now, every three weeks I would receive a round of chemotherapy. \u00a0I got three doses of chemotherapy. \u00a0The chemo I got was called Cisplatin. \u00a0It is a strong chemo, that works well with radiation. \u00a0The combination sometimes can be so toxic that it can kill you, but Cisplatin is OK. \u00a0For each dose I would stay overnight at the hospital. \u00a0After the first dose I had the worst heartburn. \u00a0After the second dose I was extremely fatigued. \u00a0After the third dose I really had no effects. \u00a0I am really amazed at how well I did with the chemotherapy. \u00a0I rarely felt nauseous and the nausea drugs are real good these days. \u00a0My hair is on my head.<\/p>\n<p>The first four weeks of treatment was actually really easy. \u00a0I was eating well. \u00a0My skin was not dry or red. \u00a0My mouth did not hurt. \u00a0I was doing really well. \u00a0It was about the 5th week when my mouth started to feel real bad. \u00a0It became very painful and hard to chew things. \u00a0Right now it is hard to chew things and I am done with treatment. \u00a0So the last three weeks were a lot tougher than the beginning, which was expected. \u00a0Overall, I did really well and I am glad for that.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I first want to apologize for not keeping the blog updated during this whole process. \u00a0Someone hacked the website and deleted everything on the website. \u00a0We got it back, but some newer blog entries were deleted. \u00a0The last blog entry had pictures of what I had to go through everyday and I now do not [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[47],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-558","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-blog"],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/558"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=558"}],"version-history":[{"count":5,"href":"https:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/558\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":815,"href":"https:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/558\/revisions\/815"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=558"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=558"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=558"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
