My Other Home Away From Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Anna and I had a lot planned for our October break. \u00a0We had The Gibbons Experience in Laos, Chiang Mai, and a small town in the middle of the mountains called Pai. \u00a0Chiang Mai has a special place in my heart. \u00a0In 2006, I studied abroad at a university called Payap University. \u00a0It was here where I first experienced Thailand and sure as hell would never forget about it. \u00a0I made great friends that will last a lifetime. \u00a0Some of the kids I went to school with would frequent this bar called the Chiang Mai Saloon. \u00a0It was here where we became best friends with the staff. \u00a0Soe, Gey, Mint, King are just a few names of the people we became great friends with. \u00a0We went on a trip to Doi Intanon with all of them. \u00a0Doi Intanon is the tallest mountain in Thailand. \u00a0Also, one of the kids I studied with teaches just like I do except he is in Chiang Mai. \u00a0Here is a picture circa 2006 when we were all at Doi Intanon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/DSC_0070.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-437\" title=\"DSC_0070\" src=\"http:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/DSC_0070-918x610.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0070\" width=\"918\" height=\"610\" srcset=\"https:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/DSC_0070-918x610.jpg 918w, https:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/DSC_0070-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/allaboutmatt.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/DSC_0070.JPG 1504w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 918px) 100vw, 918px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The point is that I was REAL excited to go back and see all my friends. \u00a0This same picture is on the wall at one of the Chiang Mai Saloon&#8217;s signed by all of us. \u00a0We have great memories at this bar and will never be forgotten. \u00a0Well I went back to both of the saloons to say hi. \u00a0It was great to hear Soe&#8217;s ridiculous laugh and talk to Gey and Mint. \u00a0They all said I was more fat than before. \u00a0&#8220;Uan,&#8221; they would say which means Big.<\/p>\n<p>During this trip I just hung out with my friends. \u00a0It wasn&#8217;t about trying to cram in all of the usual tourist attractions that &#8220;farang&#8221;
