HI, everyone!! For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Matt Sayles.

My day job is being a high school math teacher.  My hobbies are photography, travelling abroad, seeing live music, sporting events, reading, Lake George, dripping candles, and now new to me, antiquing. I have taken a lot of pictures over the years, good and bad.  I have always wanted my own website to show off my best and favorite shots.  I have finally made the decision to purchase my own website for my shots. This site was originally for the pictures that I have taken over the years. Recently, this site has turned into something way more serious because of things that have occurred in my life. During the month of January in the year 2010, I was diagnosed with Parotid Ductal Carcinoma which is a very rare from of cancer of the saliva gland. I was 24 years old when I got diagnosed. I have started to blog about my life since dealing with this disease. Go to the BLOG section to read up on it.

I went to my good friend Ernesto Valdez to help me create a website.  We both bounced different ideas off of each other for a number of months before we finally came up with the end product.  Valdez came up with the design and I just provided the shots for this creation to work.  The first Ernesto/Sayles production is ready to be unleashed.

Sawatdee!  That is the name of my website.  Sawatdee means hello in Thai. My love of Thailand started when I studied abroad in Chiang Mai for my fall semester in 2006.  Thailand will always hold a special place in my heart and life.  My experience abroad is hands down the best thing I have done in my life.  Overall, I have spent a year and a half of my life living in Thailand and traveling around South East Asia, so I wanted that to reflect in some way with the name of the website.  Many of my shots have come from Thailand, so Thailand is a big influence in my work.  Music and live concerts is another big passion of mine, so you will notice some pictures of bands I have seen live and enjoy listening to.

Please search through my BLOG and read about my fight with cancer, my travels around the world, some concert reviews or the hobbies that I am into. Go look through all the pictures I have taken from travelling abroad or pictures of some of my favorite bands. Go to the SAYLESTOCK page and learn about the yearly music festival that I throw up at Lake George. BUT most importantly, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make comments on any of my pictures of BLOGS. I want to hear from all of you and make it very interactive!!  IF you are visiting from another country besides the U.S., please make a comment and let me know how you stumbled on to my site.

My weapon of choice out in the field is a Nikon D50.
